This weekend I’ll tackle a mountain bike event of a different nature, the Leadville 100 ultra endurance race. I’m anticipating it will be as equally tiring as Crankworx but in a different way. Bottom line – I’ll be busier than a one-armed paper hanger. At least the course is a 50 mile out and back and I’ll be able to capture the action and emotion in both directions.

The Wide Eyed World was featured on MountainBike.com this week after spending last weekend shooting at Crankworx Colorado. The festival took place at Winter Park Ski Area and featured a full compliment of freeride mountain bike events. Leslie was on hand for all of the events and got a front row seat for all of the action.

Late last spring we traveled way up north to work in Portland, Maine with local mountain bike club on our Trail Care Crew tour. While we were there I shot some images for an article featuring the riding in this hip town in the southern part of the state. The article was recently published on Bicycling.com

Smelly, Tan, and Happy

Just got back from a week of camping – we’re smelly, tan, and happy. Seven days of living outside does wonders for your body, mind and soul. We got away from the daily grind (yes, even our job wears us down) and took the time to reconnect with nature and some very good friends.

Night + Ride = Santa Barbara

Night + Ride = Santa Barbara

Last fall I started the series called Night + Ride. During our recent visit to Santa Barbara I was able to capture a different kind of night ride. It involved bubble wrap and duct tape. Put together by Santa Barbara Bike Moves, it’s just the type of event that can bring a bicycle community together.

1,000 Saturdays Book is Now Available!

We recently released the first book about our bicycle travels… finally! It’s part of a four book series that chronicles our trip around the globe and beyond. The first offering, 1,000 Saturdays| New Zealand, follows the first three and a half months of our life changing adventure. The book includes photos, philosophies, and practical information about bicycling touring and life on the road.

The dark doesn’t chase every rider away when the time changes every fall. When some people hang their wheels up for the year, others keep on pedaling with the help of artificial, portable light.
