Check out photos from week 2. The weather finally dried out and we made our way south to Phoenix and Tucson. Highlights include The Black Canyon Trail, National Trail, and the AZT.

Today’s daily dose comes at you from Bumble Bee, AZ. We got out with the new TCC posse members, Steve and Morgan, for a little trail tour on the most awesome Black Canyon Trail. While we got ready to ride and chatted we did a little scavenger hunt and came up with a pile of spent .45 brass.

Today’s shot is from McDowell Mountain Park in Phoenix, AZ. Note that Leslie is riding her cyclocross bike and wearing her climbing helmet. The bike was planned – the helmet was not. However, looking like a communist-era cyclist was a better option than not riding.
Like most people I have a life list. I’d like to do things like learn a foreign language and climb a mountain in the Himalaya. There’s one thing that I’ve already done that was never on my list: lobbying in Washington D.C. The experience became a surprising catalyst for my current life.
When a fellow cyclist asks you ‘what’s your tread size?’ they may be asking about the span between your feet and not the width of your bicycle tires.
We’re in the final stages of gathering our belongings, a process that involves mind-numbing analysis. After several hours of packing and re-packing we somehow manage to collect everything into a half dozen rubberized containers and a couple of duffle bags. Throughout the process we ask ourselves questions like “should I bring more than two pairs of underwear?” and “will we really have time to fly-fish and climb on our days off?” The answers are unknown.
