With our winter break winding down I took some time a couple of days ago to do a few of my favorite things: take pictures, loiter in a bike shop, and drink coffee. The best part – I was able to do it all in the same place.
I’ve had Salvagetti Bicycle Workshop and the Happy Coffee Co on my radar for awhile and it was finally time to head downtown and check it out. There’s nothing like the wonderful smell of coffee intermingling with bike lube…
“We’re snobbish about coffee and friendly about bikes.” This comes from Scott, Salvagetti’s owner. Friendly for sure, he met me at the door and immediately pointed me in the direction of Dustin, the Happy Coffee barista. After a lovely description of my espresso choices, I snapped a few shots while he made me one amazing Americano.
Unique to other bike shop/café settings is Happy Coffee’s bike-thru window. Early in the day you can pedal your way through that first cup o’ joe. What’s even better is that you can get bike parts, gear, and just about anything else they sell in the shop. Surprisingly, the window isn’t totally popular yet. I think it’s very clever; one could do much of their shopping early in the day, get a fabulous drink, and have more time to ride. Hmmmm…
