Working with CORBA (Chippewa Off-Road Bike Association), we spent the weekend building trails at Hickory Ridge, a large plot of public land with exciting potential. Located just a few hours south of Chequamegon, the folks in the Chippewa area aren’t content with putting their bikes on the car and driving north; they’re working hard to have their own notable trail system.

We can never emphasize the ‘community’ part enough when it comes to trail networks. And we always encourage the clubs we work with to look beyond the usual suspects. There is always a strong core of people in every area to make good trails, but it also takes the butcher, the baker, and the candlestick maker to make great trails.

After a month off, we headed back out east and landed in Vernon County, Wisconsin. It’s a beautiful area in the Upper Midwest – often referredto as the Driftless Region. It was a very mellow, yet very awesome week.

Ride Log: HPT Trails – La Crosse, WI

HPT trails are located on Grandad Bluff above La Crosse. The trail system is multi-use and set up in a top-down format. This translates to an easier loop rolling along the top, connected to the more difficult trails traversing down and up the hillsides.
